Millbrae Council Woman, District 2

Sissy Riley was appointed as Millbrae’s District 2 Council Woman on October 8, 2024, marking a historic milestone as the first minority American woman immigrant to serve on the Millbrae City Council. With a diverse professional background as a real estate broker, and insurance agent, Sissy has actively contributed to the city through a wide range of volunteer and leadership roles. She currently serves as liaison to the Millbrae Senior Advisory Committee, Youth Advisory Committee, School District, and Business Committee.

About Me

I have consistently taken a strong stance against initiatives that would have negatively impacted Millbrae’s economic stability and community well-being. One such proposal was the County’s plan to convert the La Quinta Inn into homeless supportive housing—a move that threatened to eliminate a key source of transient occupancy tax revenue. The closure of the hotel would have resulted in substantial financial losses for the City and placed essential public services at risk.

In defense of Millbrae’s interests, I mobilized quickly and decisively. I went door-to-door to engage directly with residents, attended press conferences to raise public awareness, and protested at the County level on multiple occasions. My advocacy was rooted in transparency, fiscal responsibility, and community input.

Furthermore, I formally initiated the “Petition for Recall – Angelina Cahalan, District 2 Council Member,” citing her repeated failure to prioritize Millbrae’s needs and protect its long-term viability. This action reflected my commitment to accountable leadership and my unwavering dedication to the people of Millbrae.

A proud Millbrae resident since 1995 and a single mother, Sissy understands firsthand what makes the city a great place to raise a family. Her commitment to building a better community is rooted in her desire to create a brighter future for the next generation.

In her free time, Sissy enjoys singing, dancing, hiking in U.S. National Parks, swimming in lakes, and traveling with her son. She also finds joy in gardening, cultivating a variety of fruit trees around her home, and making new friends and family.
